hello, september | a shui checklist

hello, and happy september!

as the world starts to change color — its gorgeous prelude before the celebratory fever — how about a list of ideas to practice a little shui in your space? that way, you can magnetize all of autumn’s magical, over the top energy.

PRETTY UP THE PORCH.

think of your front door as a glimpse into what awaits. how people feel in a home is tied directly to what they feel coming into its embrace. and that feeling can encourage their own energies to lift. so, keep it simple + fresh with a quick change of doormats seasonally, rotating through a set until they’re worn and weary. for me, a splash of color here says come on in, happiness is underfoot…

MAKE A STATEMENT.

if your house has a garage, its likely that door is used more than the front door. this space – perhaps a mudroom – is often relegated as stash and stow. channel your inner Sherlock and take inventory: is the room chaotic + cramped? or is it light + welcoming? our days and evenings follow its current. and every time we leave {work, school, errands} or return home {relax, unwind, retreat}, this space is either energizing or sapping our mojo. so, dress this area up with a few perfect notes, and it’ll have you putting your best bootie forward.

PREP {FOR} SCHOOL.

we all want an inside advantage for our littles’ scholarly success, right? i’ve got just the scoop. round out their bedrooms with, say, something like ‘zees: a globe to help curiosity swell; a world map to ground energies; or cosmic charts of the moon + stars to pique interests and expand your supernova’s horizon.

LOVE THE LAND YOU’RE WITH.

replace any wilted colors with majestic autumn mums or other hardy plants. for fall, it’s ‘when it doubt, break BIG color out!’ by removing dead plants and reviving the space with harvest-kissed hues, it’s like guzzling fresh air into our lungs. we feel instantly revitalized and ready to dance until daybreak.

MOVE 27 THINGS.

when stuck in a fatiguing rut, this little ditty shakes loose that unwelcome familiarity. and with fall yearnings in peak season, this is sooo easy. throw a rug into a different room or pull the rugs up for a few weeks {i LOVE the feel of bare floors after months of rugs}; switch out the summer magazines for a stack of cookbooks; shimmy everyone’s bed an inch to the left or right. 27 changes – no matter how small – swirls slumped energy into frisky fun!

BONUS :: that pile of gold rocks in the first picture? it’s a little shui ka-pow i learned from my tribe that attracts crazy money luck. simply spray 8 rocks GOLD + stack them on the right side of the door {looking at your house from the street}. the metaphorical shui is this represents a mountain of wealth – so, with your midas touch, set an intention and see what star dust comes your way!
